— The new owners of a pizza factory in Tulsa, Oklah., are moving to expand operations beyond their home town.
The Tulsa World reported Friday that the company, owned by an Oklahoma City businessman named Kevin Dutton, is expanding to make doughnuts, pizza crusts and other dough products at a second factory in Oklahoma City.
The new factory will open in 2019.
Dutton owns the company for which he is listed as the president.
He is the son of the founder of a Tulsa-based company that makes doughnuts.
The company has been in business for 20 years and has factories in Tulsa and Wichita.
Oklahoma City Mayor Steve Stokes said he was pleased the company was moving to Tulsa.
“We appreciate their commitment to creating jobs in Tulsa,” Stokes told The Tulsa American.
The city is expected to receive a tax incentive of up to $200 million to build the factory.
The news of the expansion was first reported by the Tulsa World.
It is not the first time that the Dutton family has expanded.
The owner of the Tulsa-area pizza and doughnut maker, Tony Dutton Jr., is a family member of the family of Oklahoma City’s mayor.
Densons sister, Rachel, owns a Tulsa restaurant and owns an affiliate of a restaurant chain that was purchased by Dutton Enterprises in 2013.
Tony Denson Jr. said in a statement that the new factory would allow him to expand the business to more locations.
“This is an exciting time for Tulsa.
We are excited to welcome our second facility, which will create thousands of new jobs,” he said.
The building at 1815 West Main Street will house the factory and the new doughnut manufacturing facility.
“The new dough factory will provide a strong base for the future expansion of the company,” the company said in its announcement.
Tulsa-Cumberland County Commissioner Mike Riggs said the new development will help expand the city’s food services sector and the city is grateful for the investment.
“There’s going to be a lot of demand for our city to be able to serve more food, and we’re going to provide that,” he told The Associated Press.
The construction of the factory will be completed by the end of 2019.
Oklahoma’s food stamp program has helped boost the city to one of the nation’s fastest growing, according to a 2016 report from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Tulsa was among the cities hit hardest by the Great Recession in 2008 and 2009.
In July, the city was hit with a $6.7 million federal tax incentive package to help pay for the construction of a $40 million new school.
The money also will help cover the cost of a new police substation and other infrastructure upgrades.
The department also has made plans to hire 5,000 more officers in the coming years.
