Houston, TX – Burger King, the largest fast food restaurant chain in the world, plans to open its first outlet in Houston, Texas.
The restaurant chain announced Thursday it will open a new outlet in a Houston gas station, which will be located on the corner of 14th and U.S. Highway 59.
The new Burger King location will open in the new Gas Station 15 at 13800 U.H. 39.
Burger King announced the news Thursday in a press release, and said it expects to open the new location in early 2018.
It also said the outlet will be open on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A spokeswoman said the restaurant chain is seeking to expand into Houston by partnering with local companies to develop and implement a “green food” program.
“The franchisee is in discussions with the local community and will continue to work closely with them on the development of a Green Food Plan,” said spokeswoman Natalie Smith in the release.
At least one other major chain, McDonald’s, has also announced it will start franchising in Houston.
McDonald’s has plans to create at least four new franchises, with at least five stores expected to open in 2018.
In August, McDonalds said it would begin franchising a total of four locations in the Houston area by 2020, with four in the Greater Houston and Houston suburbs and one each in South and East Houston.
